Nature's Ugly Treat. The Pickering Mango.
Переглядів 2,4 тис.День тому
Supermarkets only sell the prettiest, shiniest symmetrical shaped fruit. People won't buy "ugly" fruit so it makes no sense for the industry to try and sell it. As a result people are missing out on the best tasting fruit. Take the Pickering mango for example. With hints of coconut and honey the pickering is one of the best tasting mangos. The pickering also happens to be highly susceptible to ...

What to Do When Your Mango Seed Makes Multiple Sprouts Polyembryonic Mangos
I have a question! I’m in Sarasota and all I have is straight up sand not soil! Do I plant the avacado straight it?? Your soil looks more like soil and not sand. Do I need to mix anything into the hole before planting?? I killed 1 plant and I bought another but I’m scared to kill it again! I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. New to Florida gardening 😅 I’m used to growing in the pacific northwest
I'm not 100% sure but we usually discourage any kind of addition to the natural soil. I think your best bet would be to go to a local nursery and ask them about the conditions at your place. You are right, the conditions where I am are very different.
One of my favorite couples!! ❤❤❤❤
☺️
Love it ! ❤ Im exited to taste Jackfruit. Ny tree has 10 on it at the moment . I haven’t taste it yet .
I started eating jackfruit this year and it's delicious but this particular variety the Cheena is out of this world. Do you happen to know the variety of your tree?
@@SleepyLizard I planted a Cheena Jackfruit tree after watching Pauls video about it and its only one year old. The one that have fruits on is a seedlings from an orange crush variety. I hope I do get something delicious. But I have a Cheena in case Im not lucky with the one I have.
@@SleepyLizard Hey Tom btw I will be at the Mango Festival in June 30. Looking forward to neet you and the rest of you.
oh my god...the Cheena! and I won't be at the mango festival this year, sorry about that.
❤❤❤❤❤yes
💪
But the viewer still needs to graft the plant.
excellent point. I've got a lot of vids on the channel that show the process of going from seed all the way to fruit. this vid is about one specific step.
Nature is amazing: anywhere you look, the density of knowledge to be learned is unending.
you are right.
Hey stoned grandpa
How you doing?
update po
All but one succeeded and they are all in good homes. Do you grow avocado?
You don't only know how to pick a beautiful avocado but you only know how to choose a beautiful woman, she's very good as well, good luck❤👌
thank you, I will pass on your kind words
Awesome, well made with great info.
thank you
How's this tree doing now, four months later? I may have missed an update in another video.
Thank you sir for all the information
you are welcome
Ok if my A hass and 1 plant if at tge rt time male n female are open n ready if 1 female flower is pollinated will I only get 1 avacodo?
1 or 0 but no more than 1.
@@SleepyLizard much appreciated

Over time, I’ve found the simplest method is to put them directly into 10” tall nursery seedling pots, with potting soil. they accommodate the long tap root and prevent crooked trunks if they germinate and you don’t catch it for a few days. You can put 7 into a 5 (7?) gallon nursery pot to hold upright.
I agree. I plant them right in soil too. This vid is for people who prefer to germinate.
You literally inspired me to be an avocado farmer ❤
I hope it works out 😱
Thank you for your kind words and life lessons my brother.
I appreciate your comments. thank you
It's the most exquisite aroma in nature I believe. I would describe it like maple syrup mixed with apricot, orange, vanilla, coconut and mango....and better than all these together
huge apricot scent yes.
😅😅😅😅😅 tear my house down sure no problem as long as i have my avocado tree im happy ❤😂
😝
I finally hit the 1 in 10,000 teacher who knows what he's talking about when it comes to avocados .. great information here , thank you ...
you just made my day, thanks!
I put the seed in the sun for a couple days to dry out the outer shell, careful cut the seed out and then plant in a pot. This method should provide a high germination rate. Love your videos, I need to visit when i get back to the mainland one day!!!
would love to have you stop by.
I didn't do this and it grew big
I plant right to soil but some people prefer to germinate first.
In USA the cucumbers , apples, oranges tomatoes strawberries, blueberries you name them....NONE has the taste they should. When the strawberry taste as a raw potato...you know this is disguising. NOTHING is the same . Someone is messing things up very badly just for them to profit. Now even the skies are being messed. Plastic in ocean Chemicals in our ...ha ha...Food? Or maybe a little food in our chemically made something it supposed to resemble food. It is not acceptable anymore. People should take things into their hands since our so called leaders are only taking care about themselves at our cost. Thank you We need more people like you
yes, this is why I try to grow as much of my own food as possible
@@SleepyLizard I wish I had some garden here. You are lucky and God bless you for your smart way of living
There are two types of mamei. Mamei sapota (pouteria sapote) which is the one you got and it's really tasty, and there is the mamei americana, the most aromatic fruit on the planet :)
I love mamey Americana...the smell!
Moss? Why would I buy it when it is literally everywhere? 😂
harvest what you can
Awesome information buddy 👍👍👍✌️✌️👍👍✌️✌️
💪
So what mango was the one you threw away at the beginning of the video??? Lol
it was labeled as "Tommy" at the fruit stand but I knew it wasn't a Tommy so I thought maybe a surprise delicious mango might have got mixed in...no such luck
Thanks. I thought I had to crack the seed to get to the smaller seed inside.
you can but you don't have to
Shouldn't we carefully snip off the outer shell first?
@@geriannroth449 that’s what I’m saying
you can but you don't have to. I don't and I'm a commercial mango farmer. I just plant them directly like this in soil. but I have thousands of seeds. there's lot's of different methodologies.
there's lots of different ways to do it this is the simple way
@SleepyLizard ok thanks. Work Smart not Hard! Those outer shells aren't the easiest things to crack open either. We can't get Spagnum moss that easily here in Barbados though, so we normally germinate them in normal building sand. However, it's safer to crack open the seeds since there's a particular bettle that burrowes into the seed & eats the seed kernel, luckily though they leave a very tiny black hole on the outer shell.
I throw all the mango seeds in dirt... what ever grows is a future rootstock. My goal... make sure all my friends have mango trees. 😁
I do same
How do I stop mold?Every time I try using the various methods, mold pops up.
Plant directly in soil.
I feel very deceived by the title of this video. Please share a mature tree grafting link
somebody sounds a little like a gatekeeper. 👀
@@SleepyLizard somebody sounds like they’re wasting peoples times with false titles
Yep. You're a gatekeeper. How many Facebook groups do you moderate?
@@SleepyLizard please just share the link and stop being an idiot

I do not. sorry about that.

wow, what a compliment.

I was told they were Cinnamon. But I know these things have a lot of colloquialisms
@@SleepyLizard whatever the case they make great eggs and meat. Enjoy Tom!
When will you have a variety box of mangos? I really don't want Tommy.
I'll have Valencia Pride in two weeks but no variety, just Valencia. This year was a terrible year for mango in south Florida. Many varieties did not produce fruit.

@@healthchic7 yes it's a bummer but on the other hand we had the best crop ever last season...that's how farming is. thank you for your understanding.
Whats up with not shipping to CA whats up with the hate lol 😆 jk
I'm able to ship avocado, mamey, and monstera deliciosa to CA. As for mangos and lychees I don't know why the government of California hates Florida so much 😝. I'm bound by the state of California's list of prohibited fruit from Florida and for now they say no mango nor lychee 😢 it's an evolving list so I'm hoping mangos will be allowed some day.
@@SleepyLizard we love Fl we dont like the gov lol 😆 at the end of the day we all are americans anyways we should love to do business with u all :) if its legal 😆 maybe something will change :) brother states are like that :)

We bought a Hass avocado from home depot in ocala fl. about 3' . Trying calling Costa farms as that's where tge get there fruit plants Costa won't answee/or return my voice mail I leave. .tag just says Hass . Is it A or a B plant or does it mater? As it also said self pollinating. Limited space here as I also have e 6 garden boxes
Hass is flowering type A. All avocados are capable of self pollination but they're not very good at it. This vid explains in detail: ua-cam.com/video/Sgm-7wHT8K0/v-deo.htmlsi=8naIkX5F05QQGTZl
